What's new in Songcraft - Songcraft

What's new

Everything we've shipped in Songcraft, newest first.

Printing, rebuilt (and Download PDF)

Printing was the thing you asked us to fix most. Lines got split across pages, A4 didn't work right, the text was tiny, and there was no way to print from your phone. Here's the new version:

  • Clean page breaks. A chord line and its lyric, a tab, or a chord diagram never gets split across pages, and section headers stay with what follows.
  • Your layout, your way. Letter or A4, text size (or "fit to fewest pages"), one or two columns, chord diagrams, tabs on or off, or lyrics only. Songcraft remembers your choices.
  • A proper header. Every page shows the title, key, BPM, time signature, tuning and page numbers.
  • Download PDF. One click gives you a crisp PDF that matches the print preview exactly. That's great for sharing with your band or keeping your own backup.
  • Print from anywhere. Print works on your phone and on shared songs.

Songcraft on your phone, for real this time

For years, Songcraft on a phone was "fine for reading, rough for writing." We've spent the last few weeks fixing that. Here's what's new on mobile:

  • The editor fits your screen. No more sideways scrolling or surprise zoom when you tap into a line. Long lines wrap, and only the song scrolls.
  • Comments. You can now read, reply to, resolve, and start comments on your phone. Select some text and tap Comment.
  • Tabs. Tap a tab to open a full-screen editor with an on-screen pad for frets, slides, bends, hammer-ons and pull-offs. Put your cursor on an empty line and tap Insert tab to start a new one.
  • Chords. Tap a chord in your song to see (and hear) its fingering. Tap a chord in the Chords or Progressions tab and choose Add to song to drop it in where you left off.
  • Signing in with Google or Facebook works again on phones and tablets. If you got stuck in a sign-in loop on your iPhone or iPad, we're sorry. That's fixed.

If something still feels off on your device, use the chat bubble and let us know.

Recordings that actually sound like your guitar

A lot of you told us your recordings sounded muffled, pumped up and down in volume, played back at the wrong speed, or wouldn't play on an iPhone. You were right. The recorder was treating your guitar like a phone call.

We rebuilt it from scratch:

  • Music-quality audio. Voice processing (echo cancellation, noise suppression and auto-volume) is now off, so your instrument comes through the way it sounds in the room. Recordings are higher quality, too.
  • Plays everywhere. Every new recording uses a format that plays on iPhone, Android, Mac and PC.
  • No more clipped endings. The last second of a take isn't cut off anymore, and if you leave the page mid-take, what you recorded is saved.
  • A meter you can read. The level meter now shows your input the way your ears hear it.

Your existing recordings are untouched.
